Review: You Me Everything

You Me Everything You Me Everything by Catherine Isaac
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When writing a book review, I never know where to start - with this one, I know exactly what to say at the beginning, and really, it's all you need to know about the book IT'S BLOOMIN' BRILLIANT!!

I've read many books this year, and I always finish them and think "that's my favourite book so far this year" but honestly - this one is up there in my top 5, but a good indicator is that it only took me three days to completely devour this book.

The story starts with young Jess giving birth to her son William, with her Mum at her side as her partner Adam, the baby’s father, is off galivanting with another woman. Then we roll forward ten years, Adam and Jess have gone their separate ways, she now lectures at a Sixth Form College and Adam has moved to France, where he has bought a run-down Chateau, renovated it, and turned it in holiday accommodation. With her mum now in a care home, she implores Jess to build bridges with Adam and get him to develop a relationship with his son, so Jess and William pack up the car and set off for a summer in France.

This is a story ram-packed with betrayal, romance and tragedy. The story goes along at a really nice pace, and you don’t ever get the feeling that the author is padding any bits out, it’s just beautifully crafted.

I don’t think I’m going to forget about Jess and William for a long time and would certainly love a follow up novel to see how they are getting on.

*I was given a free copy of this book in return of an honest and open review

REVIEW: Moonlight Over Studland Bay by Della Galton

Moonlight Over Studland Bay – Della Galton published by Boldwood Books Samantha Jones works as an audio typist for a local company in Dorset. However, it’s not her dreams job. She wanted to devote, and expand, Purbeck Pooches, her pet sitting service. When best friend (and housemate) Abby has a baby boy Sam’s priorities change and she realises she wants more from her life. Does she want life to continue as it is or does she want to look for the perfect sperm donor – on a drunken evening Abby and Sam draw up the perfect "daddy" list. Sam’s world is soon rocked when her boss Rex accuses her of moonlighting and her parents who have run a B&B locally for years make a shock revelation. I’m going to say it from the start…I loved this book! Sam is a relatable character who knows what she wants from life, but she doesn’t want to upset, hurt or trample on people to get it. She’s just an all-round good egg!! There were times in the book when Abby made me laugh but a...
