Review: How to Find Love in a Bookshop

How to Find Love in a Bookshop How to Find Love in a Bookshop by Veronica Henry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WHATEVER ELSE YOU DO IN YOUR LIFE - READ THIS BOOK!!!!!

I grabbed this one day when I was popping into the library to return an item, having no intention of getting another one to add to my already endless To Be Read pile, but I saw it was a Veronica Henry book and as I'd listened to High Tide by her on Audible, I grabbed it from the Quick Choice shelf and smuggled it into my handbag before my "other half" could see that I'd borrowed "yet another book!"

It was a few weeks before I got through the other books on the pile and found my way to this one, and all I can say is "Wow! Why did I wait?!"

How To Find Love In A Book Shop is the story of Emilia who inherits her father's "quirky" bookshop in the Cotswolds, which is faced with possible closure due to spiraling debts. The customers of the shop all have their own stories to tell, and all too soon you are enveloped into their lives.

Sarah lives in Peasebrook Manor House and has a secret that she can't tell, but it is breaking her heart, Jackson is single dad to Finn, and is desperate to get his life back on track, Bea is a successful town mouse who wants to live the dream and become a country mouse and Thomasina, is a shy Cookery teacher at a school.

I cannot stress enough how much I loved this book - I devoured it and it was that awful thing of reading it whenever I could because I wanted to live their lives with them, but not wanting it to end as I was loving it.

I would love it if at some point Veronica took us back to Nightingale Books so we can follow up what happened to everyone.

This book featured two of my favourite things, reading and a bookshop, and now makes me want to send my CV to Nightingale Books!

A Very Irish Christmas written by Debbie Johnson

Cassie O'Hara, a New Yorker, has been haunted by the memory of being left at the altar, and especially finds the Christmas season particularly difficult. This year, after an impulsive conversation with her friend June, she decides to escape the Big Apple and spend the holidays in a quaint village in the UK. However, upon arriving at her rental cottage, she finds not the cozy, firelit haven that she imagined, but a dilapidated, dust-covered wreck—with no welcome basket of goodies in sight! Now faced with the dilemma of either enduring the festive season or heading back home, Cassie is torn. Enter two charming men: Charles, the dashing "lord of the manor," and Ryan, a lively Irishman who seems to have done more than kiss the Blarney Stone!   As someone with strong Irish roots, with parents from a small village in Cork, I absolutely loved this book. It has everything you want in a Christmas story: twinkling lights, snow, and just the right touch of romance. I was so im...
